Urgent Message From
Tartu Academy of Theology
Siimon Haamer , Dean of Tartu Academy of Theology - 2016
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I express my sincere gratitude and thanks for your prayer support, partnership, and investment in the ministries of Tartu Academy of Theology in Estonia. We are thankful to God for His blessing. During 2016 we saw very good developments:
- We completed the institutional accreditation process. International experts visited our school and we received full accreditation. We are now approved on the same level as all European universities.
- In June, we had one of the largest graduations classes, 17 students.
- In August, we admitted the largest number of new students, 36.
All these developments give us great conviction that we have an important role to play in Estonia to help change the future of a nation regarded as one of the most secular in the world.
We are thankful to God for being part of His miracles and prayerfully ask His direction for future plans. It's natural that for all of this we also need finances. I’m writing this letter to you with serious concern, because our deficit on October 31st reached $64,689. The shortfall is so large that we are on a crossroad and have to ask the question how we are able to continue. I'm obligated to ask your help to continue to fulfill the vision and goal of Tartu Academy of Theology. Our work is not done. 80 years ago, approximately 90% of Estonians were members of the Lutheran church. Today only 2.2% are and that's the biggest church in Estonia. Something needs to change it. What would God have us do?
